West Meade Beautification

Submitted by Patricia Knight

Hello neighbors –
I’m Patricia Knight, and I live on Gun Club Road in West Meade.  Thom Druffel, our council member for District 23, has asked me to serve as our district’s beautification chairperson as part of Metro Nashville’s Beautification Commission.  I’m excited to take on this role, and look forward to meeting many of you who are already engaged in beautification efforts on your block or in the neighborhood.

This team’s work is not intended to replace existing initiatives, as I know several neighborhoods already have beautification activities in place; but we hope to supplement existing events by taking on new initiatives in conjunction with neighborhood associations or neighbor requests.

My two co-chairs, Ann Shrake and Andrea Pruijssers, and I want to expand our  team to include neighbors from all District 23 neighborhoods, so if you are interested in meeting new people, and helping to coordinate projects to continue to beautify our neighborhoods, please reach out to me at District23beautification@gmail.com.   We’ll have a space on Thom Druffel’s website soon also.

Our neighborhoods are full of talented, creative individuals.  And you may be like me, not so talented, but have a desire nonetheless to volunteer your time, manual labor, ideas and your own unique skills.  If so, we need you!

Two initiatives we’re planning right now are a fall plant swap, and a recurring District 23 Business Beautification Award.  Additionally, we are working with the West Meade neighborhood leaders to identify areas for welcome signs into West Meade.  Other ideas we’d like to sponsor, but need further volunteers to do so, are a spring open gardens event, as well as helping neighbors install pollinator gardens.

I plan to schedule an ‘interest meeting’ sometime in early October and look forward to partnering with you!

Thank you!
