Rampant Development

West Meade

West Meade has experienced a lot of new development in recent years. There are positive an negative aspects of this development. While WMNA isn’t against improvement in the neighborhood, some aspects of the rapid development need to be addressed. Some such concerns are:

Tree Canopy – some developers tend to knock down all the trees on an old lot before beginning building. This reduces the tree canopy and destroys the look of the neighborhood. It is also not ecologically sound.

Traffic Calming – often construction employees tend to race through the neighborhood, ignoring the speed limit, running through 4-way stops, and not respecting neighbors walking on our sidewalk-less streets. It is not unusual for contractors to park in the street in long lines that restrict visibility.

Noise – don’t even get us started…Construction noise has become a regular annoyance in West Meade. On top of the noise, some developers ignore the Davidson County Codes restriction on WHEN they can be working on a project.
